Why the GDPR matters for you
Data protection is about to become a major concern, for businesses of every size.
The 25th of May 2018 the European Union will update their policy regarding data protection privacy with the introduction of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDRP).
Consequently, it describes strict requirements for companies and organizations and it will drastically change the way you can collect, store and protect the personal information of customers, clients, and even visitors to your exhibition booth.
Fines may amount to a maximum of EUR 20 million, or, 4% of the global annual turnover.
What is Personal Data
In the GDPR, personal data is defined as any information related to an identified or identifiable natural person.
The definition is a very broad one, but in principle, it covers any information that relates to an identifiable, living individual.
Any information that can be used to identify, directly or indirectly – as ex. a business card.
Exchanging business cards at an exhibition will after 25. of May 2018 have the consequence that you need the person’s permission + signature on that you can contact the person subsequently and this must be confirmed in writing to the person.
In App Permission
With the LeapAppPro you can get the permission from the person inside the app, where the person can give consent with their signature, as well as choose which points of contact they will allow.
After signing, they will receive an email as a receipt, containing all the information that got gathered together with instructions on how they can revoke their consent.
Why Is It Important?
More than ever before, it is a must for your business to have robust procedures in place that protect both your customers and employees’ personal data.
And you’re not alone – all businesses face the same challenge and have to ensure that personal data is processed correctly.
