Why GDPR Matters for You
Data protection is a major concern for businesses of every size.
May 25th, 2018, the European Union updated their policy regarding data protection privacy with the introduction of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
It puts strict requirements on companies and organisations and it drastically changed the way you collect, store, and protect the personal information of customers, clients, and visitors to your exhibition booth.
Fines can be up to EUR 20 million or 4% of the global annual turnover.
What is Personal Data
GDPR defines personal data as any information related to an identified or identifiable natural person.
In principle, it covers any information that relates to a living individual that can be used to identify them, directly or indirectly – such as a business card.
Exchanging business cards at an exhibition means that you need the person’s permission and signature as confirmation that you may subsequently contact that person, which must be confirmed in writing.
In App Permission
With the Lead App, you can get permission from the person inside the app where they can give consent with their signature as well as choose which points of contact they will allow.
After signing, they will receive an email receipt containing all the information that collected, and instructions on how they can revoke their consent.
Why Is It Important?
Your business must have robust procedures in place that protect both your customers and employees’ personal data.
All businesses face the same challenge and have to ensure that personal data is correctly processed.
